Digicel thanks customers for their loyalty with more than $1-million

April 7th 2006 - Digicel thanks customers for their loyalty with more than $1-million

Almost 1/3 of entire customer base benefits from free call credit

April 7th 2006 - Kingstown Yesterday, Digicel customers began to receive almost $1m in free call credit to reward them for their loyalty.   Over one third of Digicel OECS customers will benefit from the initial distribution of free credit with all customers able to earn points based on the amount of calls that they make.

Digicel's exciting new loyalty programme, which is available to both prepaid and post paid customers, rewards customers earning more than 50 redeemable points with free credit.   For instance, if a customer earns:

  • Between 50 100 points:             they will receive free call credit of $25
  • Between 100 250 points:           they will receive free call credit of $50
  • 250+ points                                              they will receive free call credit of $125

To earn a point, customers must use $10 of call time.   Once customers earn at least 50 points they will automatically receive free call credit e.g. customers earning between 50 and 100 points (representing a spend of $500) will automatically have a credit of $25 applied to their account.

Announcing the launch of the redemption phase of the loyalty programme, General Manager for the OECS, John Mangos said Digicel is delighted to thank our customers with almost $1m in free credit, for their continued loyalty through this exciting programme.

Customers have been earning points since we announced the launch of the programme in June last year and we are happy that they can now make free calls & send text messages for free to friends and family as reward for their loyalty.

This is just the start of the programme as we will be giving free credit every month to customers who have over 50 points.   This is consistent with our philosophy of delivering beyond customers' expectations.

Eastern Caribbean Marketing Director, Errol McGlothan added The response from customers to our loyalty programme has already exceeded our expectations.   We've seen the number of calls on our network increase dramatically as customers enjoy the opportunity to make free calls.   In addition, they have been calling our customer care centre to thank our staff for the free credit.   We look forward to continuing to give more back to customers in the future with this programme.

With all Digicel customers automatically entered into the programme, they do not need to do anything to participate nor to receive credit.   When a customer receives credit, they will receive a text message informing them of the amount. If they want to find out how many points they have earned, they can send a blank text message to 2402 [except users of Motorola phones who must insert the letter Q' in the text message].

Digicel launched its loyalty programme in June 2005 to reward loyal customers for their continued service.   The redemption phase of the programme started on April 5, 2006, with a text message sent to all customers informing them that they can now receive free credit based on their level of spend.
