DIGICEL SUPPORTS THE 2nd ANNUAL LA PLAS KWEYOL

October 7th, 2011 CASTRIES, ST. LUCIA Digicel the Bigger, Better Network for the month of October will be joining the St. Lucian public in celebrating everything Kweyol.  Four weeks of fun, excitement and educational sessions on St Lucia’s culture has been promised in the second annual staging of “La Plas Kweyol” which is scheduled to take place in the Castries market.

Traditional and cultural activities highlighting Creole Literacy, song and dance, traditional games and creole cuisine is what will be displayed to the St Lucian public, causing an awakening of their senses. The idea of La Plas Kweyol is to transform the Castries Market into a Cultural Village with appropriate décor and cultural activities that will serve as a time warp into the past.

Digicel is pleased to be associated with this event as the organizers have ensured young and old can enjoy everything from various quadrille bands around St. Lucia, local drumming groups, story tellers and comedians, poets and school groups just to name a few who will celebrate St Lucia’s four fathers.

Marketing manager for Digicel, Kerchelle Jn Charles commented,” This month long initiative will help give persons the opportunity to be exposed to some of the more traditional aspects of what took place here in St Lucia.  Being able to support this activity is paramount because St. Lucia’s culture is important to us at Digicel”.
