Digicel Sponsors Kaiso 30 In Recognition of St. Lucia’s Thirtieth Independence Anniversary
Tuesday February 10, 2009 Castries, St. Lucia: In celebration of the nation’s 30th Independence Anniversary, Digicel has committed to sponsoring “Kaiso 30” with over ten thousand dollars in cash and kind. Thirty of the nation’s calypso songs that moved the nation since that day of independence in 1979 will be showcased at this year’s event.
At a press conference held at the CDF Conference Room, Mr Fulgence St. Prix revealed the performers of the event as well as their song title. Twenty five performers will be featured with five of them performing two songs each. The list of performers includes former calypso monarchs Invader, Pep, Ashanti, Pelay, Bachelor, Mr Brown as well as reigning Calypso Monarch Herb Black. The show will also feature performances by women of calypso Minelle, Lady Spice and Mahandra.

The event, which is being held by the Ministry of Agriculture in conjunction with the St Lucia Association of Recognized Tents, will be held at the Pigeon Island National Landmark on February 28th from 8pm.
